Well My story is.. I live in Edinburgh and I am proffesional chef and I work to travel. My dad is going to be 60 in april and he is big watch lover and of course Breitling and IWC are his top brands. So I wanted to get him his first Breitlings. So I was thinking as I dont have 3000£ for navitimer he loves and older models are not as cool I'll go for something with peace of history something like that cant be more Breitling.I wanet to have it engraved etc. My self I dont know much about watch I am more into Military stuf.I bought those on ebay..... I know what a risk to take but I thought who would try to make old banged up watches fake ?when everybody wants latests models?

Thank you for help guys and I know your life are watches but could you use more simplier explanations as I hardly folow your watch Jargon :lingsrock: thank you

Your Dad is a lucky guy to have someone like you shopping for him. I might get socks for my 60th (all too soon).

You can see that we have some questions about the authenticity of this one, if you want an air-tight provenance, this one should probably be avoided. My other concern for this watch as a gift is the state of the lugs. It looks like they both have taken some work, including one that appears to have the strap bar soldered onto the lugs. You may have handled the watch, but that appears to be a weakness limiting its "wearability", if there is such a word.

Why not go for a chronograph from when your father would have been wearing one? A 1970s Chronomatic is very affordable, reliable, and durable. Lots to choose from, too.

:) After this years big present he will be getting socks from now on....
I am going to look at the item closer to make sure there has been no artifical work been done to the watch.
This is the descripiton the seller gave:

old breitling chronograph with venus cal. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=16087
33mm dia without crown
steel case back
chrome mid case
aged original dial
the movement and case unsigned but my guess was made like this ,the mvmnt fitts right into case
because unsigned im selling AS is
the watch and all chrono function works fine
