Hi

I was on The Watch Forum site and they have advised me to hop across to you guys for your opinion. I have bought this watch for my husband but having taken the back off, I am a bit worried that there is no Breitling signature or any other marks that I can see.

I would love to hear your thoughts - be brutal!

Well the lack of markings isn't automatically a problem, although the dial isn't a good sign. Are there any markings on the caseback - inside or out?

Congratulations - you have a genuine 1946 model 124. :lingsrock:

My only issue is the hands (hence my comment about the dial). They are the right style for this piece, but look brand new and out of place on the nice original dial.

ref. 124 is not documented in Richter, but that list quite incomplete.
the serial number seems correct and would put it at a production date of 1946, a period when movements typically were unmarked.

edit: Roff has called it authentic, so this is above doubt. congrats

Phew, that is a real relief - it means I can give the watch to my husband with complete confidence.
Thanks guys - you're fab.

Yeah, this is a fairly recognisable reference because of the case / lugs - no issues with it at all. I hope that those aren't original hands that someone restored - they look so out of place against that dial.

rplace - that made me smile!

I agree about the hands, they do look a bit bright but at least he'll be able to tell the time without squinting, no excuse for being late from now on.

Business account too.

Shocking that people would come here for info and not give us the full story - who would have thought it

And no credit given to us for supplying all of the information either - there's a surprise.

The perception is that they will not get as much help if they state that they are looking to sell or that they will get a bunch of PMs with things like "it's worth $50, what's your Paypal account and I'll send it to you".

There are some people here who do the latter, but that goes with the territory (and they still think that I don't know about it), but as anyone who spends 5 minutes here knows we always give the best advice we can regardless of the reason behind the question. Some people abuse that with multiple questions, numerous inane comments, etc, but they still get the assistance that they need unless and until they get caught doing something inappropriate / fraudulent (like our friend cuervo).
