This is supposed to be a Navitimer 806. It has a Venus 178 movement. Does it seem authentic? Can anyone identify the year it was probably made? I understand that black dials with AOPA signed wings is kinda rare. Is that true?

Well it's obviously seen better days, but it looks fine (or at least the bits that are there seem fine). It's mid 50s, if you can give us the serial number from inside the caseback we can date it to an exact year.

I don't have the watch here, but I wrote the number down. If I didn't make a mistake, it's 868403. Any idea what it'd be worth restored? And is an 806 with black dials and signed AOPA wings rare, like I've heard?

That's very late 1955.

It's not one of the more common variations, but not exceptionally rare. Can't really comment on what it might be like restored, that depends on a lot of variables - how it's restored, how original it is (i.e. what degree of non original parts have to be used), etc. Condition and history have a big bearing on value.

Also a colour picture of the watch face might help us see more detail, esp the lume, etc.

BOW is correct , small neads bezel is correct & spacer w/ 3 screws is correct as well
judging from the b/w pic of the dial its not in bad shape either ?

I see 1 subdial hand loose with the dial but the large chrono hand and the 2 smaller subdial hands will be hard to find in white

definately worth a restoration I would say

Those are color pics, actually, and they're the only ones I have. Anyone know what it'd probably be worth restored?

I mean if it could be done with all original parts, and ended up cosmetically near new.

And that would be nearly impossible to do with all OEM parts... 806 spare parts are fairly hard to come by...
