That's minor. You can get a new crystal easily enough and it will look a lot better then.

We have a watchmaker member here - chronodeco (Craig), who is highly recommended. Might be worth contacting him and seeing if he can help you out with servicing and a crystal.

Even that I could live with , its superficial and plexi replacement is part of a normal service
there's a good watchmaker member of this forum that would be able to do the work for you if you want it done

So?

He's not that close to Fred either (he's in Austria) - trust me, it's worth it.

for me the distance is no problem at all, but spillus has the huge disadvantage of the very unreliable italian mail system, would probably have to use UPS/fedex/DHL. but even with the additional shipping costs involved it would still make sense !

I've just mailed Craig. His opinion would be welcome here.

A photo of the movement and the inside of the caseback would be very helpful. A watchmaker should be able to help you out with that fairly easily.

Read that request as a good sign - this is the first 799 moonphase that we have seen here in a long time where I haven't automatically yelled fake!

The PT on the back is odd though - does that have anything to do with your father?

The "PT" engraved on the back could be "PL": have a look to the last post of this thread (in french):

What does it mean "PL" ???

Could "PL" means "phases lunaires" (moonphase in french) ?

PHASE DE LUNE in french means moonphase, hence the "PL"...

:yeahthat

marco, your watch is one of the only 799s I have seen that really seem above all doubts. You are absolutely right that the PL marking next to the model no probably means phase de lune, which adds to our knowledge base and raises additional questions about several moonphase 799s we saw before.
