Hello,
I'm new to the forum and collecting vintage watches. I've set me heart on a 1940s or 1950s chronograph style Breitling and have had my eye on a few different ones. Problem is I'm loathe to spend lost of money without knowing how genuine the watch is. I've seen this one on Chrono24 and absolutely love the look of it, but I can't find anything like it online, and the ref (1461) seems to be for a different watch. Please see the attached photos, which I've taken from the listing. There are no papers provided, and the listing says it was produced in 1955, has a Venus 188 movement, and that's it! Grateful for any expert wisdom on it please!

Sadly it’s entirely fake. You can report it to C24 and they will remove it I believe.

Thanks for such a quick reply. I’d feared as much.

Are people on the forum generally happy to try and verify whether some of these vintage watches are genuine or not? If so I shall likely send across more to check in the future!

Thanks for your help.

Hello,
Thanks again for your help. I'm very keen on finding a genuine Breitling chrono from the 40s/50s. I've found these on ebay and Chrono24 (I've used Bitly for some to shorten the links) and whenever people have chance, would very much appreciate any help on whether they look genuine, and whether the pricing is appropriate. Thanks in advance!

1) 1950s/60s cadette: https://bit.ly/3EZ6uqp
2) 1950s Venus 170: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403299329644
3) Breitling Premier: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313764993280
4) Breitling cadette: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403324309600
5) Breitling ref 178: https://www.chrono24.co.uk/breitling/br ... 907065.htm
6) Venus 170: https://www.chrono24.co.uk/breitling/br ... 005908.htm
7) Venus 170: https://www.chrono24.co.uk/breitling/ve ... 408903.htm

Any other suggestions for where to look for something similar to these? I'm based in the UK but can't seem to find any sellers over here that have them at sensible prices.

Many thanks.

1. Fake
2. Fake
3. Fake
4. Fake
5. Real
6. Fake (edited: I looked more closely)
7. Fake

Venus 170s are inexpensive watches (largely) so don’t overpay if you decide you want an up/down v70.

Yikes! Not only am I grateful for such a speedy response, but it's quite amazing that there are so many fakes out there. DO you think the price for number 5 (i.e. the only real one!) is reasonable? Is there somewhere else I should be looking to find a genuine one?
Thanks very much again, really appreciate it.
