Hello fellow Breitling enthusiasts,

I have decided to part with some of my Breitling watch collection and first to go is the Navitimer Quartz collection from 1980 to approx 1997, the collection is made up of 29 watches that formed part of the new (in 1980 and on) Navitimer quartz range, this range of watches was also known by their alternate names, Mars, Cosmos, Pluton, Jupiter and Intruder.

There is a very good thread on another watch forum giving an overview and timeline of these watches if you are interested, Google “breitling jupiter brief history” or “breitling pluton brief history” along with this sites model reference database.

So the watches themselves are listed below, please take a look along with the photographs, but first here is an overview, as you will see some of the watches have 2 pushers at approx 4 and 8pm and some have 3 pushers at 2,4 and 8pm, this is because in the beginning Breitling used a movement made by ETA, called the 900.231. This movement is not very reliable and is a case of it will fail, not if it will fail. Feel free to Google this movement and see all the comments about it. Later (1986ish) Breitling moved to the Miyota based movement which is far more robust and reliable.

This is why I accumulated a massive spares inventory that I am including in the sale.

All the watches in the collection were in working condition when purchased, I allowed the batteries to drain naturally over the lifetime of the battery, then the battery was removed and the watch was put into storage, but with the watches using the 900.231 movement, I have never put a battery back in to see if they still work, but you will have all the spares you will need to remedy any watch that doesn’t come back to life.

This process was also applied to all the spare movements included in this sale, I purchased them in working condition, allowed the batteries to drain over their lifetime, then removed them and put them into storage.

Price for the complete collection and spares package is: £32000.00 ONO GBP + shipping + insurance.

I am based in the South East of England so collection is possible. If you want the collection shipped then I will quote for shipping with insurance on the agreed purchase value.

International buyers, same conditions, I will quote for shipping with insurance to the agreed purchase value, if your country has import duties on the shipment, you are responsible for paying them. The value declared for customs will be the purchase price agreed.

Any purchaser has the option to arrange their own courier and have the collection collected, packaged and shipped at their own risk.

No returns will be accepted, you have a spares package included to fix any problems. I will also state that none of the watches are certified as waterproof or water resistant due to the age of the seals.

The list:
First up are the Air Force/Limited editions (name and model reference)

1) Breitling Academy (A51038)
2) Team 60 (A51038)
3) Algerian (80970), nato strap
4) French (80190), nato strap
5 & 6) Iraqi, there are two versions on a Navitimer Quartz 2300 and 3300, the 3300 has a scratched case back as a previous owner tried removing it with the wrong tool. One is on a nato strap the other is on a leather.
7) Iranian (80970), leather strap
8) Yugoslav (80190), generic no name bracelet

I agree it is an impressive collection, and I also wish you all the best with your sale. I will add, however, that I think you will have significantly more success if you sold the collection in smaller groupings or even individual watches, parts and accessories. I know that will take much more effort and time, but you are likely to be better rewarded for that.

I'm not sure if you are a member of the various large Breitling Facebook groups, but you will get great greater visibility listing there too. If you are not, I would be happy mentioning your sale there in a hope that you will get exposure to a greater number of potential buyers.

PS, I'm looking forward to what else might be coming.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could pass this sale posting onto the Facebook groups as I am not a member of any of them.

I'll see what I can do.

I'm curious. You've created three threads here in seven years, yet you are clearly an avid collector. Are you active in any other forums, or have you flown solo all these years?

Flew solo, always stalked this site to see what was going on but my main focus was always the Breitling quartz watches and really only the analog/digital versions.

So my collection contains the watches I am selling and also all the model references for the Aerospace, Chronospace, Gen 1 and Gen 2, Emergency Gen 1, B1, Airwolf and the 1970s LCD and LED watches.
