Presented on the markets in 1952, the Navitimer chronograph quickly became a symbol of the clock-aircraft pilots and aviation enthusiasts. To celebrate 50 years of the model that is the emblem of the brand, Breitling has decided to create a special version of the "dean" of chronographs. Exceptionally, this Breitling Navitimer peculiar bears the emblem of the old days, represented by two stylized planes.

The watch is in perfect conditions

For sale with the bracelet and the strap

welcome to the site, Lorenzo.

this watch was listed on Chronotrader some days ago and I've been asked to evaluate it; informed you by email, but need to clarify this here:
- serial number dates the watch to 1956 or 1957, I've only seen the first two digits, 88x.xxx or was it 868.xxx

then it is a very early 1957, as it has all the characteristics of the 57-63 pieces, namely WOG-marking on the movement and a 93 bead bezel;
1955 and early 1956 would be marked "BOW" and have 120 beads.

thank you for confirming this.
could you tell us the serial no. without the last two digits, please - it in no way puts you in even theoretic danger and would allow us to date that transition more precisely ?

so it is 868.6xx, very late 1956, not 88x.xxx - so back to the inconsistencies between case production date and characteristics.
strange.

edit due to typo

LORENZO, please read my comment above.

1956 would be marked "BOW" and have 120 beads.
so characteristics do not match the production date.
case is an early one, so assume bridge & bezel have been exchanged.

do you have a reason not to agree, or is it wishful thinking ?

Do you think that the production of 1956 was precise as in the 2000s, or do you mock me just because the clock is not yours?

I am not mocking you at all, I am stating facts.

Navitimers from 1956 have certain characteristics:
BOW marking on the balance cock, as they were imported by Breitling Corp. USA
120 beads "small rice bead" bezel.

From 1957 onwards, US import were handled by Wakmann, so the import code is WOG
"large bead bezel", 93 beads (some have 94)

yes, this was quite precise.

Not that Fred needs my support here but I do believe he is correct in his assessment about the beads on the bezel, the BOW etc
