@goldtime, as a brand new member with no history here, may I suggest you consider using Rule 11 - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=530

"11. RECOMMEND THAT YOU INCLUDE TIMESTAMPS! While this will not be a requirement, we highly encourage timestamp, a written piece of paper with your username and the current date in the photo with your watch in it along with setting the watch to 10:37, and the date (if applicable) to 3, for proof of ownership."

I think this guy might be a scammer. He has posted the BLNR on another forum but used a different email:

Well, there's no categorical evidence of that at this stage as people can have more than one email address....., although I think it'd be nice if the OP took advantage of my suggestion to follow rule/suggestion 11 and post a photo with a written piece of paper with his username and the current date, along with the watch with the time set the watch to 10:37 and the date set to 3, to help to prove ownership.

As with ANY online transaction, buyers are always advised to do their own due diligence before parting with any money.

Before this thread, I did email him at his other email address asking for references and more pictures. He told me he didn't have references (that's fine) and sent me one generic picture with no detail. I told him I wasn't interested because of the lack of references and suggested he take as many pictures as he could, along with a picture of his name and date on a piece of paper, so that potential buyers know it's real. He did not respond to this suggestion. Other forums have rules that require sellers to provide this kind of info for any item that is sold and I strongly believe that if he was a real person with a real watch, he would have provided this.

You're right, there is no direct evidence but if it looks, smells and oinks like a pig.....also, it's important that fellow forum members (I joined just to report this) try to prevent scammers. I do hope it is real because the BLNR is a gorgeous watch and his asking price is well below what the forum flippers are asking for them

I totally agree with that sentiment, and thanks for voicing your concerns on the back of your actual experience.

well, no, no “categorical evidence“; agree.

just the facts that we have an unknown seller, no references, no decent „tagged“ pictures, no escrow or paypal accepted that would provide buyer‘s protection, an asking price that is just WAY too good to be true.

Occam, hoofbeats & zebras or Sutton‘s law: beware

** Psst, I'm trying to be vaguely tactful and as impartial as possible with my moderator's head on here Fred. **
