No money in these joints any more.

True enough sadly.

Those look like hand cut dove tails, nice job!

Ya, hand cut with a Japanese had saw. Wish I had time to do some more interesting boxes with them.
Dovetails are tricky but time and Patience does it,

Hey Roff, :poke: purely as you were slagging me about butt joints and I believe you have an interest in woodworking,

These examples are pretty beat at this stage but. .
Dovetails, cut square and then beveled.

Next are a lot hard Lapped Dovetails.

Finally are the hardest, IMO, Secret Miter Dovetails.
Believe it or not dovetails lay inside the corner joint.

Very nice! Those secret mitres are awful to try and do - I don't have the patience for it with everything else that I have on the go. Very good quality work!

This is a great thread! Great looking unit you're making there Breanach78.

And I'm loving those dovetails! Some very nice work in there.

Thanks.

Well it's Back from the spray shop with my guy doing a quick turnaround for me. I have collected the handles, glass, locks and the Electrician is finished.
Should be fitted in a few hours but I may be held up a bit as I have help with fitting it today!

Well slow progress today as you can imagine! It's fitted and the glass is just siliconed into place. The grove I cut in the solid Walnut to carry the glass is slightly big at 6.8mm which means the glass was a bit to loose in the groove for my liking. I have used high grade silicone so it should be ok. You can now see the winder fitted and the glass door with spacers in place until the silicone goes off. The hinges I used are full adjustable so I am not to worried about the gaps yet. The glass doors will have to be untouched for 24hrs and that's really it. Fit the doors and the shelves, fill it with books job done. I will post a full set of pics Sunday as off to a charity 140k cycle in the morning so that suits with the 24hrs for the glass, I hate waiting for things like that. I will try upload a Gif video of the soft close doors when the time comes cause they should be pretty cool. I can't seem to upload a video from my phone or any of the gif apps to here So if any one can PM me how too, that would be great.
Anyway here it so far and full set of pics to follow Sunday as it will be fully finished then.

Glass door just glued and spaces to set it in the correct place.

Well its all done now and finished now. First let my apologise for the poor quality of the photos, I am very happy with the overall project and I hope it may help and inspire some to undertake something similar. From the on-line prices I researched of dedicated units it may be a cost effective option to have one made to your spec's.
First full unit unloaded and in place.

Very happy with the spacing in the Glass doors.

One thing that could have been improved is the stop for the glass doors. I originally planed to have the stop at the back of the door rails so it would not be seen but that did not work out. I had to use this rather crude stop.
