Hi Guys

Have only had the strap on the watch for 3 days and somehow, somewhere the below has occurred.

I can't think how this has happened, nor can I keep back the tears as I am gutted that its occurred so soon - I first thought that it's a crack in the leather due to the very tough padding ?? What's your thoughts ?

Has anyone any ideas as to how to best keep it from worsening or keeping the leather well treated so I get the life out of it ?

Any help or possible thoughts on the above apprecited.

My thoughts are that if it's brand new you should take it back to hte store and get it changed out!

Is it possible that the strap was so dry that it just cracked while trying to adjust to the roundness of the wrist?
You said that you had it on the watch for 3 days but how log ago did you get it and did you get it from an AD?
I would also try to take it back if you got it recently from an AD.

Hi gents

The strap was brand new in a sealed pack

It was seriously tough in composition compared to the identical black calf strap I bought with the package also - the padding in the brown is much thicker in construction. The leather was perfect however - no issues with aging - perhaps the thickness has caused an issue for the top

I've already referred it back to the AD but wanted some opinions here also

I think send it back too.

Its new and should be covered by a guarantee. 3 days is a bit on the short side for a crack to appear. It is a natural product, so it can be a bit of touch and go tpo. That’s not an excuse, but it may help in consoling you that as it not made from metal so it can act unpredictably.

I wonder how long the AD had this in stock? It could be very old and stored in a poor environment. Other than that, all I can assume is that there was a latent fault in the hide that was there prior to manufacture. Hope the AD does the right thing.

As above really. I think if it's obviously a crack which has appeared when the strap was bent, as opposed to a nick or scratch, then it should be changed readily.

They are shipped in sealed plastic though, so that should render environmental factors irrelevant.

That may well be true at some early point of the jurney but I have been shown selections of calf and croco straps on many occasions at ADs and at Breitling Service Centres. There was never a sign of even a plastic wrapper.
So I'm not convinced that they are shipped AND stored in sealed plastic all along the way until sold to the consumer.

Brand new sealed - both black calf and brown calf were special order from BUSA and my AD had to get them specially for me.

Seems to have created some debate.
