Just bought my first breitling 44 chronomat. I wont wear it everyday. Do I need a watch winder? This is my first automatic watch. Need some advise.

Congrats, hope you enjoy it! As for the watch winder, you don't need one, they're for convenience. I prefer to keep mine on a winder only so I don't have to set them everytime I put them on.

I never needed a winder until I bought my second automatic. It became very useful at that point.

When I got my third, it became essential.

I don't like setting mine every time I wear it, and am OCD about the "danger zone". You don't have that problem with the B01, so that argument goes out the window. Now it's just a matter of convenience. Need, no. Want, yes? My only automatic is the B01, and it sits on the winder so it's ready to go at a moments notice. Personal preference.

Personally, I own two automatics, and I have to set them basically every time I wear them because of the three-watch rotation I've got going on. It doesn't bother me and as far as the danger zone goes, I just set the time to noon, set the date to a day prior to the current date, and then set the time, since the date will roll over. It takes all of 30 seconds and I know the watch is nice and wound since I just did it manually. I prefer to give my watches a break from time to time, which is a heavily debated topic.

However, I do wear all three of my watches basically once or twice per week, so they don't get that long of a break.

It's safer to set the time to 6, then do the rest you described. That way there is no chance of getting distracted and mistakenly setting to midnight instead of noon.
