I didn't like the calfskin strap on my LE Navitimer. The contrast of the white stitching on black leather was, frankly, too loud. I was looking for something more subdued.

After a pretty extensive research period, I contacted Scott Allison at Allison Leatherworks in early January and he reserved me a spot on his schedule for the last week in February.

Scott did his research the Navitimer 01 and picked out some leather he thought would complement the watch; but when I shared my specific vision for the strap, he changed out the leather to meet my specifications and crafted, what I thought, was my perfect strap.

BUT... Scott had a feeling the leather he originally chose might win me over if I could actually see the strap in person. So, after finishing the strap I requested, he finished the work on the leather he originally chose. He then SENT ME BOTH STRAPS so I could make an informed decision. Scott is a professional- - he knows his craft and he knows his customer. HE could have made the same $ in half the time by sending me the strap I requested, but he did TWICE the work to make sure I got what I wanted. He knew I would prefer the original leather, and he facilitated a situation allowing me to make the decision myself.

When purchasing over the internet, communication skills are essential and I felt informed throughout the process- - he provided pictures and explained answers to all of my questions with minimal turnaround time.

Thanks to Roff and some others who helped me out with sizing information last week. As you can see, with only 3 eyelets on the strap, Scott tailors the strap length to each customer so the size of the case had to be subtracted from the circumference of my wrist.

Enough reading... here are the pics:
