I have a blue navitimer world on a bracelet but I'm going to purchase a deployant clasp and strap too. Should I get a blue calf leather strap or a blue croc strap?

The blue croc is beautiful on that watch, I have a blue one myself.

:yeahthat I had my original blue Navi World on blue croco for a while and it looks superb - it sets the watch off much better IMO than the blue calf.

Agree with all above and if cost is not an issue then the croco gets the cake.
It will however be significantly more expensive than the calf.

My feelings are that despite the consensus being for the croco strap, the croc strap is more dressy whereas I'll be wearing the watch more for every day wear. In my opinion, croco seems like it's for a gentleman with a career and a professional wardrobe; I'm a full time college student with a wardrobe to match. That being said, it should come as no surprise that the price difference between $175 and $550 is pretty drastic for me. I'm so ambivalent about this.... :|

OK, as much as I have quicly replied - go for the croco, I have some mixed feelings when it comes to Breitling straps and I will try to illustrate it here.
No blue straps unfortunately but it may give you an idea and hopefully does not confuse you more ;-)
In tan/brown in general I prefer croco straps. I like the way the colour varies in croco scales pattern.

On the other hand, I am not a great fan of the black croco and by far prefer the black calf instead.
As much as we could generalise that the croco has a more formal look/feel than calf, I think (IMO) the black calf is the best choice for this TOC in achieving that formal feel.

I have also experimented with calf/croco combination on my Chronomat and again by far prefer the brown calf. It gives it more of that casual/rugged/military look, if you know what I mean.

A blue strap might look very nice with the blue dial Navi but it might be a little too much blue and restrictive in terms of what colour clothes you are wearing if that is the only strap you end up with.
One option you could consider is to get a black calf and colour the white stitching with a matching blue permanent marking pen, like what I did on this strap that I think goes great with the red hands on the Chronomat or the Navi. In black it might be more versatile than in blue and the blue stitching could be a subtle but nice match for the dial of your World.
Just some food for thought.

I have a white World on the bracelet and am kicking around either a blue or brown strap (leaning towards croco after reading this thread). What are your thoughts on ebay straps, like the one below?

Thanks.

IMO croc is the only strap that works well with this watch. It's a dressy classic piece and the croc sets its off nicely. I'm switching it from croc to the bracelet though, a little dressed down. I'm more of a casual kind of guy but when I dress up formal, I will switch to the croc.

Razorsedge, my personal preference is to only wear authentic breitling straps with the watch, so I wouldn't wear the one at the ebay link that you provided.

for everyone else, I bought a blue calf strap and I bought a gold croco strap. My wallet was hit pretty hard this month, but I think I did well getting the blue calf strap, deployant clasp, and gold croco strap for $770 out the door (a $1,048 value near me after taxes)

I agree, nothing compares to the quality of them. Have about 9 or 10 genuine 24/20 tang and deployments awesome quality.
