I really like the idea of different color subdials, but I am afrain the subdial and red tip on the hands might seem cluttered, this is a chrono and we are already running that risk.

I like the watch that D8 posted, except it looks a little too stock. I would really like to see something unique to point to a true LE. I think the way to do that is with some accent colors as described at length.
I further agree with many that I am NOT a fan of the chopped off numerals. Cannot explain why, just has always looked like two people designed the dial and did not communicate until it was about to be produced: "Dude! You made the numerals too big!", "No man! YOU made the subs too big!!" Kind of thing.
Lastly, no surprise here, I fully agree with Roff that there should be some kind of "pop" to the sub dials. I am much less sophisticated in my tastes than the old gaurds here so I will defer on specifics.
My only wayward thought would be to say that it would be a shame to wind up choosing a watch that is only different from a completely stock piece by a couple of accent colors and 2 words on the dial. Do not misconstrue that as a criticism of the current results or the process of getting there, but rather a thought to give pause in our future voting.
As always a huge cheer goes to Altair for his undying persistence in orchestrating such an endeavor!
Still in, but watching cautiously.

I'm not entirely convinced that different coloured subdials would work on this one. Happy to critique any photochops if someone out there wants to do them though!

Although we don't want to change so much just to make it totally different from the standard and in the process possibly ruin the dial.... I do agree that an LE could/should be more than just a different coloured second hand and a couple of extra words. Is the bigger date window (like on the IWC Top Gun) a no go then?

Cheers!

Dave.

I think the issue is between do we 1) go for the ultimate pilot's watch or 2) go for something truly stylistically unique? It is true, you just can't have both.

For me personally, I don't have a classic pilot's watch, so I am of course leaning towards option 1. I love pilot's watches, so the opportunity to influence the design to the ultimate in aviation-inspired timekeeping apparel is exciting. I have also come to realize just how much I like the standard Nav B-Chrono...so it would be kind of silly for me to get this LE then go buy a standard one as well (so of course, I want the LE to be an even better pilot's watch than the regular Nav B-Chrono). Those that already have pilot's watches will naturally want something that sets it far apart from the norm. Both are equally valid...I think it's just people speaking to what makes the most sense for their collection at the moment.

I guess it really just depends on how many people would be happy with each option, I suppose.

Also, on the type-of-caseback thread, it has been mentioned several times that a display back would be good if the movement looked interesting. Is getting a cool-looking movement maybe a way to make the watch more unique? You don't see many pilot's watches with display backs. I'm not really sure what options ETA has for the 7750, or how much they would cost. (I apologize in advance for my ignorance here).

Yup.

I'm with Mofongo on this one when he says " I want the LE to be an even better pilot's watch than the regular Nav B-Chrono " I also don't have a Nav-B Chrono and have been tempted for a while. I was actually looking at the IWC recently but then thought it was just missing something compared to the Top Gun - but there's no way I'd be buying the watch with the daft Top Gun logo embossed on it! I do really like the instrument dial date wheel though ( just in case I've been a bit subtle so far! )

The opportunity to customise the standard Nav-B Chrono to a certain degree and get a proper limited edition really appeals, but I'd be worried about changing it massively just for the sake of it and wanting to buy the standard one in future too for that classic pilot's chrono look..

Hope that makes sense!?!

Dave.
