I also had a thought, just out of curiosity, what types of logos might be thought of and so on. I just imagine it being a little weird putting "Breitling Source" onto another brand of watch.

I would definitely suggest steering away from any kind of "BreitlingSource" specifc logo on the dial (or probably anywhere else on the watch for that matter).

Definitely not on the dial. And I see what you mean, having the word Breitling on a non breitling does seem wrong.

Maybe we can get Admin to change the name of the site?

Seriousely, we can come up with our own discreet logo, maybe a simple flying jet like on the IWC Perp. Calendar BP and many other watches?

Sorry guys I really shouldn't do this as absolutely NOTHING has been decided yet, but I was really wondering what a bronze Pilot Chrono might look like so I mocked one up quickly. And it looks so cool I just thought I'd share it with you!

Man, that looks great IMO!

That does look really good!

I suspect it will look even better with a brown dial! And distressed brown strap!

Considering myself reasonably conservative I must admit I initially had nightmarish images when you first mentioned a bronze dial but surprisingly that looks good Driver. Amazing the potential difference between a vision of how you perceive something and the reality when shown to you i.e. I was picturing a different shade of Bronze :D Nice work

Indeed that bronze does look nice...

I know I'm a vintage junkie... but this looks awesome... and I totally like the idea... but can't say if I'm willing to commit... yeah I hate to be wishy-washy but also living in the States doesn't help too much... the dollar is getting its a$$ kicked by the euro right now...

but if I can swing some dough by then, then I might just change my mind... 8)

Glad it's not just me that thinks it looks good!

I even did a bit of research into different types of bronze last night and there are plenty of variations in terms of properties and corrosion resistance etc depending on the composition of the alloy. In actual fact it seems like a very good metal for watch cases as it's (apparently) fairly easy to work with, it's much harder than gold or platinum but a little softer than stainless steel (although it can apparently be hardened to steel levels) and it's pretty non-reactive.

But anyway, this could all be a flight of fancy on so many levels. The forum majority (i.e. you guys!) may decide on something completely different........, Steinhart may not want to use bronze, or have some technical issue with it........, hell, we may not even get anywhere near enough interest for it to go ahead at all! :(

Bronze is definitely out. According to Gunter the manufacture of a solid bronze case would require a new manufacturing method and tools as well as multiple prototype cases that he cannot afford to do just for our small group buy. I thought as much but it didnt hurt to try, sorry Driver!
