speaking to the AD today as i said earlier with currency so weak here you guys abroad can snag some serious bargins and all the perks that are available will be available to all members no matter where they are based.

Very valid, my question would be on import duty? Buying through Govberg I (and many others) are able to avoid governement confiscation or added resources. I do not know the threat of that with importing from the UK. :lingsrock:

Actually you have to pay import duty and local / national sales taxes.

Here in Canada import duty is 5%, I think it's similar in the US. However you then have to pay federal sales tax as well (5% in Canada) and state / provincial sales tax (8% here in Ontario). You also have to pay handling / brokerage fees charged by the courier firm and federal tax on that (not provincial in Ontario, but that may vary in other jurisdictions).

In Ontario I reckon on an additional 20% and that usually just about covers it

I am desperately looking for an emoticon bending over and taking it in the shorts, but I cannot. YIKES!

To Ans a comment by Roff in Admin thread

roff for whats its i think its great that all have become involved in the Owners Club bit, the UK part was suggested by admin so if it takes off here there was room for other regional versions. if we went down that route what i think would be really cool would be to get 1 ad from each area working cross borders so although it had regional (country) segments it was the same club essentially and we leveraged the same and much larger group of owners, the same ideas and benfits etc.

harder to do but good in the long run

To that end, from the US side, may be worth a line to jnelson for the US AD?

Sorry I missed this, not living in the UK I usually skip over this topic. I can talk to George about this and see what level of interest Govberg would have in this, I just need to know what exactly we're looking for. If someone can PM me the details, I'll get an answer this week from Govberg, I'll talk with both George and the owner to see what they can offer.

Alex and I had a brief PM exchange and I agree with him that if we can leverage everything through a single AD then it gives us more presence with Breitling. There may be some challenges dealing with different 'jurisdictions' (particularly BUK and BUSA), but let's see where things fall to start with. I know of the AD that is currently involved and they are exemplary. Obviously the appeal of a UK AD for purchases is going to be exchange rate dependent for non UK buyers, especially given the tendency for lower European discounts, but we can always add Govberg, La Swiss et al at a later date if need be.

Why not have several clubs coordinating/collaborating the same way Breitling does. One for CONUS, one for Europe, one for Australia etc...

If that's the way it has to work then so be it, but it would seem to make a lot more sense to have a single club if that can be made to work - it gives members a much stronger position than multiple 'national' clubs.

also keep in mind the ad in the UK is planning on sinking cash into this to get it off the ground and the it will be the AD B owners club unless he can get endorsement from BUK.

so i am hoping we can all make it work and it will evolve as needed rather than trying to be all things to all men from the start. you throw too many parts into the mix and it will never eevn take off
