We received a quote for service of abourt $600 for my wifes quartz Callisto. This is through an AD. Given this is a quartz watch, this seems a little high to me. Does anyone have any experience with service for quartz watches?

Many thanks!!

I don't agree.

$600 for a quartz service seems a little high. It's more than a battery change - the seals are replaced to ensure that the water resistance is maintained and the board is run through a range of tests, but that does seem high.

Having said that, I don't know how much a Callisto battery costs - if it's an unusual / non current one then that may be where the money is.

$600 seems realllllly high. Even if it's a pricey battery.

My Cartier quartz used to cost me $250 to fully service and replace the battery.. it needs to be cleanred and serviced every 5 or so years as the lubrication gets 'sticky'. And that's at a cartier dealership.

My buddy talked with a Breitling AD about servicing and battery replacing his B-1, and I seem to recall that it was in the $250 range.

Ridiculous. I sent my daughter's B-Class to BUSA in May 2006 for a "basic service" which included battery change, new hands, seals, hermeticity test, regulation check and minor polish. Cost was $55 USD. I opted for a "full" polish for another $85 USD and the watch was returned in about three weeks looking absolutlely brand new and working perfectly. There had been a large "ding" on the case ring inside the bezel which I did NOT think could be polished out but I was dead wrong. Further, the "wings" logo had become detached on one side and had dropped down, blocking the seconds hand and stopping the movement. I think the bad ding and the logo detachment had probably occured at the same time when the watch was dropped or banged against something although my daughter couldn't recall the circumstance. There was no charge at all for the "wings" repair and of course the polish did indeed take care of the large "ding". I strongly suggest you call BUSA (1-203-762-1180 ) and ask for customer service. The receptionist will ask your location and route you to the representative responsible for your area. Have the model number of your wife's watch available to give to the rep and ask for a quote for basic service. Please report the results of your phone call here. Below are pics of my daughter's B-Class, my wife's Callisto and my sister's Callisto for your perusal.
Cheers,
Ron

I just sent my Moms Callistino in for a batt change and basic service. $80 for the basic service, and $25 for return shipping. They recommended a new crystal, 107 bucks for that, no more.

I was really surprised to see that they are making so little second hand in fact I just sold my wifes for less than $600 so the service costs seam very high for the cost of a replacement watch
