ok guys i apologize if someone has already posted this question. Why no automatic for the ladies starline and cockpit? i dont buy the arguement that some AD's have given in the past about size of the watch. Look at the ladies date just oyster that is automatic and case sizes are pretty much the same. If its a matter of cost i am sure there is a market for it. Any one know if breitling will release an automatic cockpit or starline in the future :?:

The argument that I have heard is that automatics are less practical given the ways that ladies tend to wear watches - fewer women wear a watch all day, every day (and most watch buyers have never heard of a watch winder).

I don't buy that argument either because manual wind option is still there.

I think it just comes down to the absence of 3rd party small, reliable automatic movements relative to superquartz.

My wife hates autos or hand winds so its quartz only for her, I even offered to let it stay in the winder for her but that was too much effort to get it out :wowzers

Isn't the ETA 2000 a ladies automatic movement?

My WIS-ness has rubbed off enough on my wife that she doesn't want a quartz. She has a couple ladies rolexes and her own winder ;)

Yes, 8 3/4 lignes.

However, I don't think that it's produced in very large numbers anymore, so historically not reliable enough to use as a base movement.

So that leaves the Rolex 2235, are there no others?

There are plenty of manufacture movements, but not many quality 3rd party movements for Breitling to use as base.

My wife is the same way. She has a gorgeous vintage Omega automatic, a gold vintage Waltham manual wind, a Breitling Wings quartz, and a no name quartz I was going to toss but she wanted it. That's right, the watch I was going to throw out is the one she wears all the time. I think Breitling is right on with the quartz ladies watches. As a thought, if you have a wife that does like mechanical wind and automatic watches sometime the smaller mens watches like the Castillo, Cockpit, and pretty much any chrono from the forties and fifties might be interesting choices because of their smaller 35-37mm sizes.

+1 on that - I just wish my wife understood the difference between a $500 60+ year old watch and a $5,000 60+ year old watch when she grabs the one that "will look pretty with this outfit"
