Been a while since I've been here. Just had the subject watch come in with the minute hand floating around inside the crystal. When I removed the case back, the contact spring fell out. Customer said he dropped the watch and the minute hand came off. Apparently, he or someone else tried to solder the contact spring onto the circuit board. it probably held until the case back was pressed on. i epoxied the spring on in the proper place and removed the hour hand. I went through the hand installation procedure in the tech sheet. The digital display sets fine but the hands do not. The movement is haphazard at best. I really don't want to tear this one down to see what happened from the impact.

I hate quartz watches! It is almost impossible to keep stuff off the rotor.

Anyone seen this problem before? If so, how did you fix it.

Thanks in advance if you can put me on the right path.

Maybe I didn't quite understand what you need but if you have a problem syncing hands to digital display, here's a page from Aerospace manual. Maybe it helps. Neutral position is where the display is blank.

That helped!

I missed the part about having to be in the neutral position. This one is a PITA because the rapid hour hand function does not work when setting the time or synchronizing the hands to the digital display. Lots of turns of the crown. Good thing I have a crown winder.

This is another reason I don't like working on quartz watches.

Thanks again.
