Post subject:  Navitimer QC issues?

Hello all,

I bought a new Navitimer (steel, black dial, black strap) last year as a treat. I had to bring it back to the jeweller on two occasions, after wearing it less than half a dozen times, as I could not wind it (the winder became really difficult to wind and then would not wind at all). They say they sent it back to Breitling, but the issue arose for a third time. They replaced the watch at this point. However, the watch they gave me has a much loser bezel, and although this time the watch seems fine, I don't really have any confidence in it.

I'd love to keep the watch as I'm a huge fan of the Navitimer and Chronomat. Does the looser bezel indicate a problem, or have I been given an older, maybe refurbished watch, or are different bezel tensions par for the course with the Navitimer.

Hello,
The navitimer has been criticised a few times on this forum.... however a few points need to be remembered:-

1) The Navi uses a 7750 movment - this is a very reliable movement.
2) The Navi needs a full charge to function correctly.
3) The Navi is the top seller of the Breitling range for a very good reasons - it looks fantastic.
4) The loose bezel is a concern - it should be tight (in order to assist the limited water proofing).
5) Cool guys wear a Navi..... just ask John Travolta!

The Chronomat is the top seller.

Would not be for me, but the NAvi is a cool looking watch. I would have the bezel looked at. :?

Well in an effort to come back to some semblance of accuracy.........

The Navitimer does not use a Valjoux 7750 - it uses a modified Valjoux 7753

The Navitimer has a 42 hour power reserve and will happily run with a full or partial charge - one person's experiences not withstanding.

As stated, the Navitimer is not the biggest seller for Breitling.

Bezel looseness is difficult to measure beause it's subjective. The bezel should move with little effort, but not be so loose as to move of it's own accord.

Thanks Roffensian,

The bezel on the Navi is looser than the one it replaced and looser than one that belongs to a friend. Frightenting lack of QC on Breitling's part resulting in two dud watches. The AD is replacing it with a 'Mat, as I've decided to stick with the brand, based on what I've read here.

BTW: Great forum, glad I posted and was able to make a decision.

Tnx,
H.

Nice to see you are sticking with it. Some are way to quick to abandon the entire brand if any problems ever seem to arise. Pics of the chronomat when you get it!
