Hi
I've just bought my first Breitling in a private sale.
I am satisfied that it is genuine and is in excellent condition.

I decided to wear it for a few days before laying it aside for occasional use, but find that it consistently runs 25 seconds per day slow (currently 1 min 50 seconds slow).

I am loathe to send it to Breitling at this stage for a service in case it just needs usage and time to settle down but at the same time I am a bit scared to open it up and try to regulate it myself.

It was bought new from a local AD in November 2014 so it is out of warranty and would appreciate any suggestions as to the best way forward.

John

A used watch should not really need to settle down. 25 seconds a day is the sort of discrepancy that could have been caused by a knock. Maybe it happened in the post. Firstly, have you tried giving a full 40 turn wind to check how it runs then?Do this a couple of times first to see how it goes. If it's still running slow then it may just need regulating or it may have been 'magnetised' both of which can easily be resolved by a good watch maker. It's only a couple of years old so shouldn't need servicing yet. If you are in the UK then an authorised dealer is likely to recommend it goes back to Breitling for inspection and rectification. Unless you know a trusted and competent watchmaker then that may be the way to go. Any incompetent wok on you watch will only cost you more in the long term.
