Hi! After waiting for a very very long time - I finally got a Brand New SA from the AD - I have posted a Review in the Review Section at breitlingsource as well. One Problem Though - The Hour Needle of the Chronographe is exactly 0.5 millimetre off centre - it is slightly more towards the 1 of the 12 marker rather than EXACTLY in between 1 & 2. This is the bottom sub-dial And this has been KILLING ME! What can I do?? HELLLPP!!! |

Yes It was. Just that I was so excited to get it after a 3 month wait - I didn't really notice it. It is just a wee, really wee bit off, that's all - but it is still driving me nuts! Sharkmouth suggested a method for a similar problem posted on this section 3 days back - but that was quartz movement. Anything similar for automatic movements - esp the for an SA. Any suggestions? |

What did your AD have to say? You mentioned previously that they have several stores in the area, they must be informed enough about the watches and their movements to have a thought on the matter. |

Try and let your chrono run for 1 or more hours, and then reset it, and see what happens. Sometimes that'll do the trick. If not, you'll have to get it fixed by a watchmaker (under warranty of course). The mechanical chrono's don't have an easy fix like the quartz. Good luck! |

Mercury2wo, I have the same problem with my Navitimer World but did not want to part with it. Since I always wear it with the chronograph running, it does not bother me that much. I figure, when it's time to send it in for servicing I will mention it and hopefully they can do something about it and it won't affect the regular price of the service. I guess it all comes down to personal choice, good luck! Bob- |

Ok- It does seem like I have managed to take care of this problem. Taking Watchmakeress' advice I ran the chronograph for 2 hours and then did a reset - Didn't work. So, taking the advice even further - I ran the chronograph for about 2+ days - I let the hand do 3-4 complete circles around the 12-hour dial and then I reset it. Viola! It is bang where it's supposed to be. Exactly between 1 the 2 of 12. |

I'm glad that worked for you! You know, the reset on the hour indicator is a very intricate mechanism, that (in my opinion) is a bit poorly executed... On paper it works fine, but in practise it tends to fail on occasion. That's what happens all the time with watches though... they're designed by engineers, not watchmakers! Cheers!

Thanks a lot for the tip on how to reset a mechanical chronograph occasionally, it can be good to have in mind later on!

I don't mean that engineers are bad, just saying they should ask the watchmaker's opinion sometimes...
It's not because you guys are smarter than us, that we can't have a better mechanical vision on somethings...

I am glad you were able to solve this on your own... If it acts up again, take it back to your AD and let them send it in for repair and testing. This is why we have good warranty's.... And another reason to get your mechanical chrono from an AD with a good warranty.... Also another fix for that problem is to let it wind up good for a few days in your auto winder, and then perform the same running test of the chrono.. I have done this proceedure before and it has worked ever time..... However I only let the chrono run for 14 to 16 hours before rest... I have done this with several other brand watches.... I will keep in mind to let it run longer if 16 hours does not do the trick... Thanks for the info and I hope mine helps you too.... |
