Post subject:  Can someone tell me the value of this watch,

I Just got a breitling chronograph. i have no idea what year it is.

the case back says B13048 and under that it says 1 47546. i'm guessing thats the serial number.

my wife got it for me. i'm 90% sure its real,

i have alot of other high end watches. and have a pretty good eye for fakes.

but never had a breitling so just want to make sure.

she paid alot for it and i just want to make sure she didnt get ripped off. so a ball park value is what i'am looking for.

the numbers i typed above are sort of rubbed off from wear i guess. so i couldn't get them to show up in the pictures.

any help would be appreciated.

Here's the info on that model: http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_de ... er_73.html

Nothing jumps out at me, but a better picture of the face would help.

Yeah it's real alright. It's a early (modern era) Chronomat and dates from between 1984 and 1996. In terms of value, the standard advice of checking completed eBay listings and chrono24 applies. However, these should give you a ball-park idea -

This is low end pricing - fair condition and on leather -
http://www.chrono24.com/en/breitling/ch ... urerIds=32

This is very much the top end - good condition and on the TT bracelet like yours -
http://www.chrono24.com/en/breitling/br ... ndex-5.htm

Real value will be between those two extremes IMO.

In terms of dating yours exactly, I'm not sure if yours is new enough to have the 4 digit numbers between the lugs at the "6" end of the case. If you remove the bracelet at that end there may be 4 numbers visible between the lugs. If they are there, the first 2 represent the week number of manufacture and the last two represent the year. So 3604 would mean a watch was made in week 36 of 2004. As I say, I'm not sure of the exact date Breitling started doing this, so there's a good chance the numbers won't be there, and if that's the case then you will be out of luck dating it exactly.

It's 90s and it won't have the date code so impossible to date exactly.

I never remember exactly when they swapped over to date coding.

Officially around 2000, although I think that there may be some 99s. You can tell that it's not one of the earlier (80s) versions of this generation because of the newer style model number.

Well I guess it's worth about $1500 a little less than I hoped.
