Hi

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about how to check if a watch is water resistant after having the back off.

I'm planning to replace a movement on a Shark Auto (thanks for your help Brian) & was wondering if there's some way I can check this (within reason) myself. Is there perhaps a service kit available?

I know the easy answer is to go to my local maintenance centre but was wondering if it would be possible to attempt this myself.

Any help much appreciated.

Sorry, the only way I know of is the obvious test - and that's a bad one if the watch fails...

Kind of... You can make the watch crystal real warm (with a hairdryer or so) and then drop on ice-cold drop of water on the crystal, and then time the amount of time it takes for the condensation underneath the crystal to disappear. If it takes longer than 15 seconds, your gaskets should probably get replaced...
This is one way of testing, it doesn't ensure your watch being water resistant though! So you should still take it somewhere they can professionally test it!
