I can somewhat understand your situation. The crown on my SA sometimes get very hard to unscrew. I never overtighten it, just screw it in normally. Then it seems to self-tighten sometimes, making it difficult to unscrew. Almost so that it's not enough friction in your fingers (and no, my fingers aren't greasy...) and I need to take help from a cloth or glove to unscrew it. I have no idea why this happens, but since the rest of the watch is working as a clock I'm not too concerned.

I've never come across that issue with my SA at all. Maybe I don't tighten mine up enough!

Or more likely you tighten yours just right!

Thanks for that one Roff!

I sure don't know as much as you of the internal works, but I do know how to screw in the crown.

I certainly did not use pliers metal on metal. That would be insane. I used a thin piece of rubber to protect the crown.

I have also experienced a "over tightened" crown. Expecially on my daily worn Steelfish. Hasn't happened very often but since once a week or so I like to wind the watch (to account for the break off my wrist at night) I have noticed it more than a few times. I am the one and the only one who touches my watches so I must have slightly overtightened. Never needed a pair of pliers though, just a shirt tail.
