I just inherited a 1945 breitling 787 premier. It doesn't currently run. I was told by a watch repair shop that it needs a new mainspring and it mostly worthless since there aren't any parts available (probably bs). Where is the best place to get this watch repaired. I'd really like to wear it daily.

Thanks,
Bob

Absolute BS. That’s a Venus 175 (or 150) and can be repaired by any competent watchmaker. Share some pictures!

Post where you live Bob and that might help someone point you in the right direction of a competent watchmaker. A forum in your own country or state might help too. You can also search online for watchmakers that belong to organisations like the NAWCC - here in the UK for example there is a directory. To be fair most are clock repairers vs watch repairers, but it’s a decent place to start.

I'm located in Virginia USA. I'll probably need to go to a big city. Our little town of 7000 doesn't even have a jewelry store, none the less a watchmaker.

If you're near Richmond, I recommend Time MD. i just had my Navitimer serviced and he did excellent work.

It’s pretty normal to send your watch the right place by mail.

Or if you’d rather not deal with the repair yourself, maybe someone here would take it off your hands!!
