Hi all! Does this dial look good to you guys? I noticed that the “T” in “Swiss Made T” is bigger and further to the right than usual, and it’s sort of fading, but that seems like an unlikely thing to fake, unless the lume plots are too good to be true!

well, you say it yourself... "an unlikely thing to fake"

and just to understand why that "T" may slightly change positions and could easily look different in printing quality form the rest of the dial printing: these were available in lumed and unlumed versions, so lume dots would be added to the base dials and the dials marked "T" in a separate printing process. You just need to verify that the hands fit the dial, these dauphine hands of the 808 were available in lumed and unlumed versions too.

So: yes, in theory, someone MAY have had the rare and correct lumed 808 hands lying around AND a perfect specimen of an unlumed 808 dial, MAY have added perfect lume dots to the dial and added that "T". Possible, just like winning the lottery is "possible" ;)

here's the unlumed version of a white dial 808 Mk1.2

Perfect, thanks so much Fred. The more examples I looked at last night, the more this explanation makes perfect sense.

and yes, there even are examples where they "forgot" to do the "T" printing run, assume these were either batches for markets that din't legally require the "T"-marking of Tritium dials, or....... just plain, old, human error.

Yep, looking through the #breitling808 tag on Instagram returns examples of all of these scenarios. Thank you for confirming! Hope to add one of these to my collection very soon.
