I saw this example go for <$11K USD at Christie’s last week. Is there something wrong with this example? Is the yachting bezel unoriginal/undesirable or something? Or did someone just get a great deal?

Sure, but don’t we generally take their estimates with a pretty big grain of salt? I thought market price on a good ref. 2005 was closer to $15K USD, and I feel like auction results are generally exaggerated towards the high side, not the low side.

I guess your market estimate is too high. Retail yes but probably not auction.

Interesting. Well good to know then. You didn’t see anything wrong with that example?

The bezel isn’t the standard one.

Think it was a replacement? Or were some later examples perhaps born with the yachting bezel?

The original discussion from 2014 here. The bezel was pictured in an advertisement, so it was a legit option.

Awesome thanks for sharing. Seems like the Mk2 was definitively sold with a yachting bezel, but maybe the jury is still out on the Mk1?

nope. Jury isn't out (or as far not as it can be without a time warp).
Mk1 were minutes or decompression
Mk2 minutes or yachting
Mk3 yachting only
