Hey all. I'm closing in on the idea of getting an older Navitimer Cosmonaut - tossing and turning on precisely which reference, frankly may just come down to availability and price. One issue in the back of my mind is how far back in time I feel comfortable going and getting a watch I can maintain over the long term. Which brings me to the crux of the question - are the old manual wind Lemania and Venus movements maintainable in 2020? Is there a difference between them from an ownership POV? Is there anything specifically I should be aware of/looking for? |

New parts are no longer provided so you have to source them if needed. There are some web resources of places to buy. in terms of Venus watches, I would say that most people probably don't wear them every day or are worn in rotation. and they get treated with a fair amount of care.... For Lemania, I assume you are talking about thee ones from the 1990s? (which we wouldn't really term as vintage...) |

parts for the Lemania 1873 are incomparably easier to source. but the Venus-based "true vintage" are also incomparably more charming (personal view only) |
