Hello,
I was shown a 1971 Navitimer with a box 10 inner slide rule (and non box 10 outside rule from after sale service).
Could it be authentical ?
From when to when were box ten dial produced ?
Thanks

Yes, would be around that time. The first red markings came in 1967-1968. , so boxed 10 after that.

Thanks Dave.
I was told the box 10 were made only in 68-69. Fake information, then ?

1967/68 is correct. Transitional for one year. Mine has 1222x, 115xxxx is also known. Never found a NOS slide rule with boxed 10.

Brietbees - I'm not 100% sure and yes on reflection 1971 might be late for a boxed 10, but at the same time, a few things to consider
1. Sliderules come and go and get changed over time - what's important is that the red design of the dial and the sliderule match. So your question really is "can a boxed 10 dial be from 1971"
2. If you have a boxed 10 dial, its almost certainly authentic, and should have the bigger (not biggest) subdials that ran 1968-1971
3. It's very tempting to always categorise these features and transitions exactly by the year, but of course the Breitling guys didn't throw all the stock away on Dec 31, and start with new designs on January 1. Nor did they launch new models on January 1. So lots of dating estimate are best to use it as a guideline only. The only way to be more certain would be to have access to the Breitling production records
4. If the watch you have was problematic, we would be talking about taking a boxed 10 dial fro 1969 and putting it in a case from 1970/71. You are really at the very tiny minute of Breitling collecting at that point. I wouldn't worry about it!
5. My "best " 806 is from 1967 and has no red markings at all. Doesn't worry me a bit.
