I have an older Breitling that I traded something for perhaps 30-35 years ago, and am interested in its age, and potential value. I've finally found time to present my casual collection, including every watch I've ever owned, and want to have this one serviced, cleaned, etc. if worth it.
It is a top time, reference #2211 on the case. it has a primarily black face with the stop watch orange large second hand and smaller 45 min dial hand. It has the number 1347099 under the 2211.
It works fine but needs attention. Can anyone help me?

I recently had a vintage Breitling (815) restored by B.UK. It wasn't cheap. In purely economic terms it was just about worth it as its value enhancement I think exceeded the restoration cost. However I'm sure that vintage Breitlings are appreciating healthily and especially so for minters and near minters. So a general refurb. could pay off. However, whether it is worth it to you, depends of course on how attached you are to the piece. In my case, although I initially thought 'no' to the B.UK restoration quote, in the grand scheme of things, I treasure the watch as an heirloom so I judged it worth the spend (just!).

Sorry if that's not much help - I expect Roff has more facts and less waffle!

cheers,

Ike

Not sure I can live up to that....

Serial number dates it to 1970. Top Time models (there are a number) are still relatively plentiful which helps with restoration costs, though it won't be cheap - factor in $500 or so for a service, restoration will depend hugely on what needs doing (at the risk of stating the obvious).

From a purely economic standpoint, a service will come close to paying for itself, though probably not fully - restoration is rarely worthwhile if all you are going to do is sell it - you'll lose less by selling unrestored.

I'll check the books tonight for this model and try and get a more accurate price, but off the top of my head - $800 - $1,000.

OK - this is square right?

Dark face makes it a 2211D. Value - I may have been a little harsh this morning - let's make it $1,000 - $1,200.

Thank you folks, I'll post a pic of it this evening, perhaps that too will help in determining its value.
Also, would this watch have originally come with a metal or leather bracelot
