So I know this is likely to sound odd, but how can I research what models were produced by Breitling in 1980.

This assumes that after Ernest Schneider bought Breitling in 1979, that they actually made something that early that I would like, but ideally I would like an older vintage piece from my birth year.

I turn to the vintage masters here @ BS as a complete and total noob.

Thank you kindly!

Justin

sorry, but as far as I know there were no watches produced in 1980 at all,
all components for the older models had been sold off and the new models
were still in development.

If you absolutely want something from 1980 with a feel of vintage Breitling, the only solution would be to get a watch manufactured by Sinn or Jean Zurbuchen using parts from original Breitling stocks . The first Aviation by Ollech & Wajs were issued in 1981 from the same stocks .
As far as I know the first Breitling watches from Schneider era were issued in 1983, all were motioned by a quartz device.
We all think to the unique guy maybe able to find - issue?- a 1980 Breitling vintage : if he has one, skip it!

Yeah, no Breitlings produced from 1979 - about 1983 (unsure exactly when the World was introduced) and then the big relaunch in early 1984 with the Chronomat.

There are the reissue pieces with vintage movements, but no official pieces.

I'm pretty sure the Navitimer 2300's were available in 1980, but that's a difficult model to recommend because of the poor reliability. You can see that they have an odd winged logo with what might be a wave underneath.

I think there might have been other quartz Sicura models with a Breitling dial, and I'm thinking of the very small Sicura "Stunt" for which there are some with Breitling dials.

As I feared. Thank you kindly gentlemen.

I guess that means I should start to look for something earlier.

That`s true, my father bought his Navitimer 2300 in 1980.
