Not from the G.Leon Breitling era, but the first Navitimer of the Schneider era : here is the 81600 presented as " Old Navitimer" in the 1986 catalog . It nests a Lemania 1873, or 1873-24h for the Cosmonaute . The back is a snap on , very similar to pre 1980 backs . The 1st generation case is massive, with a tiny movement holder , and the 21nd generation case is less thick, with a massive movement holder . The 2nd gen case will be used in Cossies with snap on back and also in the Patrouille de France, a 1000 pieces limited edition issued in 1993. My black beauty is a NOS Cosmonaute dated May 2006 , with original strap, box and papers. The Lemania 1873-24h has been completely overhauled due to dry oil. |

. . . but I'm pretty sure the first Navischneidertimers were those quartz versions with the unreliable movements, but I see what you're getting at. |

If you get a look at the 1985 catalog scanned on this forum, you will see that Schneider was using "Navitimer" as a generic name for his Chronomat, for the Jupiter - Pluton and Mars quartz versions, for the Aerospace... and the mechanical Navitimer was illustrated as a 806 evocation . Then appeared this 81600 Navitimer with angled sliderule and Lemania inside - maybe postponed due to the legal dispute btw Breitling and Sinn? |
