As the Jean-Michels excellent site http://www.navitimer.net does not support deep linking - and, as a flash-based site, can not be used on mobile iOS devices - and other online sources are rather cumbersome to read, I have posted the Breitling Serial Number list under the following link:

http://www.vidision.com/watchfred/

Hope some of you will find this useful.

Excellent, I was wondering where you all get your serial number dating after my recent inquiry about a 769.
Many thanks for this.

From the table of serial numbers it would be wrong to calculate production quantities , specially for the last years of existence of the manufacture Leon Breitling .
It is clear that :
1/ Breitling was buying complete cases from different subcontractors
2/ many genuine Breitling " empty watches" are still available thru ebay auctions or other sources and they all have their SN engraved
It clearly prooves that cases were engraved at incoming phase or were delivered to Breitling with SN engraved .
My feeling , based on crossing informations , is that real production figures were pretty lower than from SN table calculation .
I had a phone call with Mr Albert Wajs yesterday evening and we spoke about the 1806 and 8806 Chrono-Matic cases .At the end of Breitling Mrs Ollech & Wajs bought several hundreds of such empty cases with SN. Mr Wajs re-used 200/300 of those cases themselves for assembling Aviation watches ref 6081 and 6083 , with neutral crown and backs . He also sold back 500 cases to Mr Sinn , who intended to have them modified - tapering the original crown hole at 9'and drilling a new hole at 3' - for re-use on Sinn watches with a different caliber. And he still has a few ones remaining , original Breitling with SN engraved. From this example we can deduce that at least 700/800 empty cases with SN never became complete Breitling 1806 or 8806 chronographs .
I am pretty sure that figures are similar for 7101 - 7102- 7103- 7104 - 2110-2111- 2112- 2114 -2117 + some Sprint, Datoras and contemporary watches .

Hi all

I'm looking at a watch with the seal number 695096 per porting to be from 1946 which may well gel with the list above ..... Can anyone throw any light on why this would be missing from the above list ?

we have seen that several times, so your watch falling between these numbers would be considered "late 1946 or early 1947".

That is not always the case. Many earlier 769 have serials in the late 4xxxxx. Fab Suisse-models. Some have not. My own early 769 have 49xxxx. There are variations in the early days. It's a jungle. 8)

My "pre Premier" has serial 503111. Thats 60548 units before 563659 which began 1944. Guessing it was made before 1941 assuming WW2 yearly production was low. It has female end spring bars. Wonder if anybody has info on these models.
