Look at this dial http://cgi.ebay.de/Mervos-Cuadrigraf-Ch ... 4a9b2e864f

A lot of stupid "breitlingspecialists" have blasphemed in the past about my real genuine Breitlingwatch.

:idontgetit: Pardon my ignorance. Are you saying the dial in the link is a Breitling?

Mervos was exactly as Wakmann a watch company, which sold Breitlingwatches in the Americas, especially the South American market, so the Spanish name designation.

Sometimes the watches where signed with Breitling, sometimes with Mervos, sometimes with both.

... them as quickly as possible at an inflated price. Others do that, but you make up stuff and sell fakes. How can someone trying to sell that "Cuadrigraf" (or whatever that square abomination is called) have any pretense of self-respect. You do have many correct pieces, but the large number ...

You just have to start thinking logically.

Michael on your watch the movement was unsigned. Shouldn't it have had a Breitling stamped bridge? I found this example onlline (no idea if it's genuine) of a Breitling-Mervos stamped bridge. It seems to me that if Breitling would put Breitling-Mervos on a Mervos watch then they would certainly have put Bretiling on a watch of their own brand. Just a thought.

Post subject:  You need to buy that dial to make your watch correct.

"Mervos" is a registered trademark of Horowitz and Sons, New York. I think it must have been the case that Horowitz and Sons imported Breitlings around 1944, before the establishment of Breitling America. I think the example Farfo shows is probably real, but there is no documentation of a relationship.

Thereafter, all watches marked "Mervos" are Horowitz and only Horowitz. To pretend otherwise is counter to trademark law and, well, common sense and reason. Your watch is not a Breitling.

Breitling or Mervos or Breitling-Mervos, what's so important, it is a real genuine extremely rare and valuable Cuadrigraf.

And if I or somebody else was want sell a fake, it was a snap to search a Breitling signed bridge for it. But I let it genuine as it is.

It is a wonderful and very valuable piece of watch history and 100% not a fake.

Post subject:  It is what it is.

And an original dial is for sale right now. You should get it and make it an all-correct piece. As it is, you're trying to sell a Cuadrigraf with a mis-marked, re-painted dial.

It is deeply troubling to me that you chat so cavalierly about replacing bridges, etc. I also find your discussion of your pieces for sale completely inappropriate for a collector's forum. You seem only interested in persuading people that your watches for sale are authentic. I grant that you have many, very authentic and correct pieces, but you mostly talk here about the the many bogus ones you are trying TO SELL. And while the Cuadrigraf is, indeed, a Mervos, it is not, never was, and never will be a Breitling.

That second Mervos thing you are showing is also bogus. Did you make it up yourself with a new dial and bridge?

I think we all know that Horowitz and Sons could not be selling Breitlings at a time when Wakmann had the exclusive distribution rights in the US.

I see you cite Pritchard as a source for this claim. I cannot find any such connection under the Horowitz/Mervos or Breitling listing in the copy I own. Surely, only a scoundrel would cite a source they didn't possess and only a fool would just take it as knowledge on the internet. I think you are spreading patently bogus information to serve your own ends.

I think you should be banned from this forum. I'll be banned with you, if you want some company.

I bought this dial, but my dial is not repainted. I will give it to 2 specialists to look, one is a dial restaurator who lifes not far away of me asnd who is autorisiced from Rolex to restor their dials, the other is working in a laboratory of criminal police. And we will wait what they say.

And: we all know that Horowitz and Sons was selling Breitlings in South America at a time when Wakmann had the exclusive distribution rights in the US.

Is it just me, or do other people notice that watches of dubious origin always seem to have dirt or some discoloration in suspect engraving when the rest of the watch is spotless? I am not throwing stones here, just looking at pictures.

Post subject:  Now you're just making stuff up.

There is absolutely no evidence of such an assertion, although you may have bought these watches from sellers in South America. They are quite famous for this now.

Breitling never made a "Cuadrigraf" for themselves or anyone else. You are spewing nonsense.

You should be banned from commerce.
