Something about these 60s-70s vintage breitlings... gotta love them... anyway... I've been MIA for awhile... just wanted to make some action... I KNOW it's from South America... (Argentina) but the only thing I wanted to inquire about was the bridge... Weren't all bridges from this era signed "Breitling Cal.11 Automatic"? I don't recall seeing any that didn't have the calibre and automatic on them, but would need to check thoroughly. My immediate reaction would be that it's a faked bridge though - especially given the source. |

I noticed in the enlarged pic too the engraved "Breitling" looks a bit odd... by the way, what is fair market value for a transocean right now? |

I'd put it anywhere between about $1,500 and $2,000 depending on condition. |

Since it's a gilded movement it's a cal 12. Whether it's an original Breitling cal 12 is anyones guess. Most of the off the wall chrono's with this movement, like Gruen, Elgin, Kelek, Dugena, Tourist, etc, used the cal 12 and it's a simple matter to change the bridge to reflect whatever you want it to say. Okay I checked with the ones from Old World Jewelers... it looks different. The one from Old World has the signed bridge... interestingly though, the NOS from Old World has three subdials versus two (the one for sale on ebay) Would that change anything? Probably not huh? |

I forgot that the 11 was never gilded. The dial layout shouldn't affect the bridge design - they were common to all variants as far as I know. |

The one at Old World Jewelers is a 7740, not a cal. 11. Hence, the difference in the dial layout. The Dubois-Depraz 8510 chronograph is the same in both watches, so the bridges look the same. I would think that the bridge for the 12 hour counter (smaller one on the left side) should also have some information on it. Frankenwatch? |

You're right... that small bridge is supposed to have something too... I think "17 Jewels Unadjusted" something something...

Posting a picture of the Cal 11 that´s in my C-Matic for comparasing. The shape of the bridge looks pretty correct, and as all you guys said... the lack of engraving is quite concerning. And while mine has domed shaped (don´t know what to call them in english) screws holding the bridge, this Transocean has what looks more like some kind of rivets or flathead screws.....what about that?

I would call the screws round head, but dome head is as good as anything! I can't honestly say that I've studied the screws to see what was generally used, but screws are often replaced. In this case I think the bridge is the biggest problem. |

Like I said... such a shame... it's hovering at a pretty decent price... but it's got no bids... probably since others are thinking about the odd bridge too... |
