I can't, you deleted it.

No, I don't have it - again, you deleted it.

If you choose to interpret that as being 'reluctant to bolster the truth' then you don't know me very well.

That is inaccurate.

Check your records. I didn't delete anything, I edited it. There is a difference between deletion and editing.

Deletion implies I wrote something I was ashamed of and thought better about posting, which is certainly not the case.

Dracha already cleared up any perceived mass misconception about my thinking my watch's value may have approached the value of the $18,000 cited example or a value beyond scrap gold price. If the opinion of the forum is that the watch is worthless, it should be destroyed, and will be soon sold for it's elements, if it doesn't move on Ebay. In this, I completely agree. The gold can be recycled into something beautiful instead of this ugly eyesore.

You edited the post, deleting the text and making it impossible for me to recover it - the words were deleted.

As for why you did it, we will have to decide for ourselves. I will be saying nothing more on this thread because bluntly I have better things to do than justify myself to you.

Well, i think my opinion is that the watch head is still certainly worth more than scrap value (not talking about the bracelet)
Estimating the weight of the head is approx an ounce , ounce and a half , i would still estimate worth spot gold times 2 , and i would certainly pay that as its inline with my original estimate

Nothing more to say? I seem to have read that promise before someplace. Let me think, now where did I read that? It's so vaguely familiar. Oh, yeah, how could I forget, it was from you, about 5 posts back that you wrote:

"I'm done with this poster, suggest that others follow the lead."

:uplaugh:

Anyway, I'm sure it wasn't your intention, but you inadvertently made me laugh and I do thank you, I needed that, it's been a hectic week. :superman:

BTW, the administrators of most forums can retrieve any and all edited text from any post that was submitted. I assumed that was the case here as well.

Merry Christmas to all. :santa:

Now on ebay, Buy It Now for 8000 $ ... I do not see any interest to help guys who come on BS without any interest apart maximizing their profit .

What profit? The watch and bracelet was purchased in 1948 for about $700. It's worth at least triple that for the gold alone. What are you talking about, "maximizing a profit"?

What a horribly unfriendly forum this is, I've never seen it's like, hopefully I never will again.

Hello, I'm new here and was looking for some opinions. I am going to purchase a new ASW II and can't make up my mind between the Tungsten Grey or the Cobra Yellow, both with the polished numerals. I'm 52 and this is going to be my second B'ling. My other B'ling is a Colt Chrono with the blue face and silver sub dials. I love the yellow but I'm afraid it might be a little loud for my age, especially a few years from now. I also love the grey but afraid the polished numbers might disappear into the face. Any first hand opinions with these two models ?

Thanks John

Go with the blue. It looks classiest and presents maturity. The yellow model looks like it belongs on the wrist of a clown. By any chance, did Breitling introduce the yellow one on April 1st?

what a pathetic guy, good riddance.
talking about clowns .....

I fail to understand. You did ask for opinions, right?

You shouldn't ask for an opinion if that's not what you really want. Or you should have specified that if an opinion differed from yours, you would rather not read it.

I even went so far as to explain what the basis for my opinion was, and I stand by that opinion.

IMO, the blue or gray is a better choice for a mature adult rather than the yellow, unless you're Pagliacci, in which case it would perfectly compliment your yellow pantaloons and red, Ping-Pong ball nose.

That's my honest opinion, like it or not.

Sir,

It's not your opinions that bother me, the world is full of people with opinions different than I. It is the way you choose to express them that is bothersome.

I too, have never been a fan of yellow as a choice of colour for a watch face, however I would only use the term clown when addressing someone who feels obliged to be so derogatory towards another fellow.

Bad form!!

Except for the fact that I never referred to anyone specifically as a clown! Here, again, is what I stated:

"The yellow model looks like it belongs on the wrist of a clown."

Now how can any English speaking individual interpret that sentence as specifying that I was calling the person who asked for an opinion, a "clown"? Do you really interpret it as "bad form", a personal "insult" to the poster asking an opinion?

Further, for what purpose was that off-topic introduced into this thread? To derail it? To troll me? It had nothing to do with Vintage Datoras or anything else posted in this thread.

Has anyone here taken the time to read the forum rules and guidelines concerning cross-posting? Or off-topic posting?

I think what's happening on this forum is that some members only read the first & last words of sentences and nothing in between. That's the bad form here.

And exactly how did I do that?

I have a watch that I sought information about. Not realizing what an unfriendly place this is, I asked about it here. This is a Breitling watch forum, right? Where else should I seek information? A John Deere forum?

I made no mention of offering it for sale here or on Ebay. At that point is was not for sale. I was trying to gather some info on it so I would be able to field questions on it with some type of seller acumen when it would be listed for sale.

It was forum members who pointed out, over a week later, that the watch was for sale on Ebay, not me. They posted links, not me, and yet, those same members are the ones who inferred that I "didn't care about Breitlings, and only posted here to pimp my watch, and good riddance", which is far from the truth.
