Why are we seeing more and more ugly ads on this site?

I've not noticed. Which ones are you referring to?

Not sure what constitutes an 'ugly' ad vs. a non-ugly one. Google ads are driven by Google and the site owner can't control those but can remove anything you consider inappropriate by excluding it in the Google parameters - just PM him, username breitlingsource. The actual hosted ads at the top and bottom of each page are the reason the site remains free for everyone.

I have always noticed the ads at the top and bottom of the page but when I logged on a while ago, ads showed up on the right and left side of the screen (say 2 to 3 inches) blocking a lot of the center section and they were not that easy to remove?

Well that's because the forum is monetized with google adsense. My cousin website is also monteized with google adsense and lately his site is also displaying weird ads although his site sell condos.
