I'll be in the Halifax/Huddersfield area for the next few weekends and I was looking to see if anyone has suggestions about what I should be doing with myself when I'm not working. I know there are quite a few UK members on the forum, so I figured this would be a good place to ask around.

I've got access to a rental car and a sense of adventure, so any and all suggestions are welcome. I'd like to see what I can of the countryside and would love to know if there are any "must sees" while I'm here.

You'll be the other end of the country to me unfortunately Ian or else I would've met up with you for a beer! Hope you have a good trip over here.

No problem D8! It would have been nice, but they tend not to put chemical plants near highly populated areas...

So far so good though! I've been to York and have a trip to to Skipton today planned to take a look at the the countryside. What I'm MOST excited about it is that I just purchased my ticket to see a Rugby League World Cup match. As it happens, the US has made it to the quarter finals. Should be a good time!

You're not far from me then. Loads to do - head into the dales, drive down to the peak district or up to the lake district. Harrogate is a nice town, great shopping in Leeds or Manchester (if you fancy the wrong side of the Pennines!) Head to the coast - Whitby, Scarborough, bridlington. Loads of museums to check out also.
