Post subject:  Vettel now among F1 greats?

As Sebastian Vettel has locked up the F1 World Championship for the fourth consecutive year, at the age of 26, it's hard to argue against his status as one of the best-ever drivers in the history of the competition. I cheer for other drivers and teams, but I think he deserves respect for his ability on the track. Now, with the change in regulations for next year, Red Bull Racing may not dominate and some may revise their opinion of Mr Vettel if he is not on the podium regularly. However, based on the current regulations and competition, he's so often unbeatable and not since Michael Schumacher's Ferrari days has anyone been like that.

I'd agree. A lot of people don't like him, and say he's always lucky, etc, etc, but that comment often gets levelled at many great sportsmen. After 4 straight World Championships it gets harder and harder to constantly put it all down to luck! The saying goes that you make your own luck, and I reckon that's pretty true.

Clearly he's a very good driver and deserved of the adulation however I'm still not impressed with him overtaking Webber earlier this year after ignoring team orders (and I'm not just saying this because I'm Australian - I'd have the same opinion no matter who it was). I think his attitude could use some work but at the end of the day this isn't a popularity contest so all credit too him. I pity his next 'team partner' though. Will definitely be interesting to see how he does next year. The car certainly has provided him with some assistance.

Another Aussie, Ricciardo, has to toil behind the Champ. One thing I am curious to see is if the performance of Mark Webber's car miraculously improves and he wins a couple of the final three races of his F1 career.
