While we're on the topic of weapons in the UK, I was shocked to hear the UK's policy on self defense. One can only use "equal or lesser" force to protect oneself or others. Thus, if someone breaks into my house, attacks me with a baseball bat, and I stab the guy with a sword, I'll go to jail. Alternatively, if a group of dudes jump me, but are only using fists to hit me, and I pull out a pipe/bat/knife to fight back, I'll go to jail.

It's completely absurd. My only other reference point is the US, which some will argue is too much on the other end of the spectrum, but irrespective of this, I do feel the UK provides too much protection to criminals.

Coincidentally, I saw this bumper sticker when driving home from work today:

"10 out of 10 criminals prefer victims who are unarmed."

Where I live in Australia it is an offence to carry any knife/blade without a 'reasonable excuse'. E.g. Allowed to carry a Swiss army knife while you are fishing, but not day to day walking down the street. You are allowed to carry a knife if you need it for work, cooking or sporting activity.

But otherwise, no knives for us.

Thankfully no guns either, and we have minimal problems with penetrating trauma (something I am thankful for every day... I have only had 2 case of gun shot wounds at work, and whilst we get a few penetrating stab injuries, they still aren't particularly common. Majority of our trauma load is due to alcohol, speeding and motorbikes)

I don't carry any knives, but I do get to use a scalpel at work :) (although they are very small on the Crocodile Dundee scale of knives lol)

I just picked up a Chris Reeve Umnumzaan Wilson combat aka Startac.... It's a sweet knife but it will set you back $400.

Nothing like resurrecting an old post, but I had to having recently picked up my new favorite knife in my arsenal. It's a ProTech Godfather. This thing is evil and kills my other watches by far. I've always been a fan of Microtech but this new purchase has me thinking differently.

Hey, I guess you can carry them (or swiss army knives for that matter)on planes apparently too these days... Guess we didn't learn much from 9/11. Rediculous.

I would never carry any knife onto a plane.. That's asking for trouble. I don't like guns so I carry a knife. These days you can't be too careful especially when your rocking a 5000+ wristwatch.. Although if someone were to put a gun to my face and try to take it I guess there wouldn't be much my knife could do.
