I was trawling through some of my old photos from a few years ago and came across these. The Connie flew de-pressurised from Canada and landed at Prestwick just after 8pm and stayed for a couple of days. I was lucky enough to get on board and have a look round - what a sight, they don't make 'em like that anymore!!!

First time I've ever seen an interior shot.

Not exactly the height of luxury compared with what we're used to today!

Thanks for posting the pics

I love the duct tape around the GPS.

Classy.

Hey Sharkmouth, it had more legroom and was more comfortable than Ryanair/Easyjet

Wow I am shocked that Breitling did not dress up the interior. I know they are probably just keeping it original though. We have one right near my house that I see all the time. They have really made the interior nice on this one. You can check it out at http://www.airlinehistorymuseum.com/connie.htm

Hi Damien - nice pics and a lovely old aeroplane.

I had a wander round the interior and although I didn't get any pics then I did capture some later.......

Here are some 'photos from last year when she was being brought into the Swiss hangar at Basel (where she spends it's summers). She was in for an engine change & one of the 'photos shows the cloud of smoke which resulted from the 1st run after the change - although a reasonable amount of smoke accompanied every start!

Note the reg change - I didn't look through the history yet but assume it changed from the US register to Swiss after you saw it - must have been on it's initial journey to Switzerland.

They don't make 'em like that any more!

Very nice Breitling Bloke!
As far as I'm aware, it had it's US reg for quite some time after leaving Prestwick. Wish I could fly on her!

Hi Damien

You can fly on her.

http://www.superconstellation.org/Events/EventList.aspx

Don't know how much exactly but when I looked into it a few years back it was in the region of CHF 750 (approx £300) return with a night in an hotel included. I think you need to join the club too.

Of course you have to get to Switzerland too!

Would be great fun - real flying!
