and another thing came to me, if you were having your photography gear on display, what did you use to shoot them ?

I went back in time using my Rolex GMT

I have a small point and shoot Cannon, not all situations allow for that kind of equipment.

Not quite as posh but although I seem capable of spending up to £3k on a watch I can't justify replacing the trusty Nikon D50.

Otherwise my kit comprises of:

Nikon D50
Nikkor 18-55 Kit lens
Nikkor 70-200 Zoom
Sigma 105 mm macro
2x Convertor
SB600 Speedlight
Manfrotto Tripod & head
Manfrotto Monopod
CamPod beanbag
GorillaPod
Various bits & pieces - blower, flash filters, remote etc etc
All at home in a Tamrac Expedition 5 bag.

Hopefully I'll pull my finger out & get snapping now the good weather's here (in the UK that is).

BTW - do you know a good photo forum? I used to contribute to eospix.com but it's now closed down

GREAT STUFF! I don't have any at this point in time. Some f...........ing
idiot in Grand Cayman took it when my back was turned for a few seconds :( But gives me a good reason to go shopping for new. Am looking at the Nikon D60 with the 18-200 mm to start. Been a long time since I bought a camera , so I am not real sure what to do yet. I have read your comments on other threads re cameras. HOPE your back is better

DAMN sorry to hear that Sunny, at least it gives you an excuse to go shopping for some nice gear!! The D60 with an 18-200 would be great to start off again and fairly reasonable price!

Great kit, needs a bit of upgrading as far as the camera is concerned  My D50 was the first DSLR I bought, the d300 I have now is so far and beyond.....HIGHLY recommended.

Yeah Altair

Would love to upgrade the body but find the D50 is a good enough bit of kit for now. I think I'd keep it anyway (as a back up) & get a better body to go with the gear I've got.

Maybe for birthday or Christmas - I know I won't get a 'ling but do get camera gear, ipods & other things like that.

Fingers crossed!

Know any good photo forums?

Sunny, you'll like the D60 with the 18-200mm zoom. I've got an old D50 that I've had for years, and just got a D60 for the smaller size and the improvements. I'm keeping the D50 as well, as the D60 doesn't have the motor to drive the older lenses like the 50 does. You might consider just getting the kit with the std. 18-55mm with VR, as it's a very good basic lens. I love my 18-200, but the other is considerably smaller and easier to pack around...just get both!
