First off, hats off to the people that posted this. You can see the topic B-1 Calibre. and 125th anniversaire. A few things... So as of now..Breitling has valjoux 7750 in many popular watches i.e. the Chrono Evo and Super Avenger. Now from what I understand valjoux is made by eta..which is part of swatch group. Breitling modifies these movements or just uses valjoux? When Breitling creates thes in house movements supposedly it will make them on par with Rolex by others perception..but for us its already a beautiful art/timepiece. I read about the new movement..it seems very interesting and exciting. Now the dilemma..will this devalue the previous watches whihc use valjoux 7750 movements? The new ones with in house movements will have exhorbant prices or hopefully not have kinks right? 125th anniversary is lookng to be very interesting for Breitling and as many have said maybe it wont be noticed because of less marketing. |

It will certainly not devalue and current B's....if anything, values will go up for the simple reason that the brand is now associated with the ability produce an in-house-movement. |

Breitling currently use movements produced by ETA and Valjoux, both of which are now part of the Swatch group. If the production numbers of 50,000 movements a year from Breitling Chronometrie are correct then the majority (well over 75%) of Breitlings will continue to use 3rd part movements - at least initially. These watches won't be devalued, they'll be a cheaper entry point and therefore a lower resale value, but I can't see that the value will decrease because of the new in house movements. That said, I don't buy the argument that the value goes up - just because Breitling now produce movements in house doesn't change anything about a watch made 3 years ago. |
