I decided on a late 2007 SuperOcean with the black dial and a diver pro strap. I love the lume on the numbers and the brushed numbers on the bezel. The strap is great. This is my first watch with AR coating and I love it. I do have one question. As of now its running +15 seconds on 2 days. I know I should let the movement break in but lets say it runs +7 seconds per day. Could I send it in to get regulated free of charge under warranty? I'm not that picky when it comes to accuracy but being that I paid a premium for a COSC movement I want it to at least run in the COSC range. I dont have a digital camera but I'll try to post some pics with my cell phone when I get the chance.

One more quick question. Should I shower and run with it on? I've always worn my watches in the shower but I'm a little scared to wear the SO in the shower.

congrats.
welcome.
as far as running I would personally stick to quartz. For the shower you probably could risk it but you know what? Take it off for 15 or 20 mins in the shower you will be better off...if Breitling Sa sees water damage or condensation then you knokw it might be on you.

jusrt my 2 cents..maybe roff or mario or vanessa would know.

as far as CoSC time. If its running out definitely get it regulated if you are up for that. It is only one second out of range but thats about 30 seconds a month. You did pay for a premium you are correct.

COSC certification takes 15 days so its up to u!

Congratulations on the purchase.

If I were you, I would wait a bit before deciding to have the watch regulated. If it stays more than +6 seconds a day then, yes, by all means have it addressed because this is outside chronometer specs, but give it a few weeks and see how it behaves rather than just a couple of days.

You can certainly run with it on, probably not the most comfortable option though. As for showering, plenty of people here think it's fine, but some point out that hot water and steam aren't particularly good for the seals. I don't think doing this occasionally would hurt it, but just to be on the safe side I wouldn't make a regular habit of it.

Thanks guys. I'm probably not going to shower in it. Does Breitling charge for regulation if it's still under warranty and outside COSC? Will they touch up scratches and other minor touch ups? My friend had to send in his Omega and they replaced the crystal and touched up the scratches for free. If I remember correctly it was even in COSC he just wanted it regulated to +2 to 3 seconds.

The concept of taking a SuperOcean off to shower seems just wrong. The seals issue is more of a sauna type thing, or a chemicals thing rather than a shower.

Will Breitling regulate it under warranty - well I've never had any problems, but it seems that in the UK it has to be sent back to Breitling - it is a warranty thing so no cost, but you might prefer to pay someone rather than wait 6 weeks.

In terms of touching up - depends on the AD. It isn't technically covered, but I just drop hints to my AD that a piece needs a professional polish and they do it for nothing. That said I think I'm a fairly good customer.

I had my Chronomat regulated at an AD I did not buy it from for free, under warranty. I kind of doubt it on the cosmetic stuff, but worth a try. Congrats by the way. Oh and:

Id go one step further and say to give it a couple of months before making any decisions. It took mine months before it seemed to settle in nicely. The last thing you want is to have it regulated only for it to change on you again. Just stop worrying about accuracy (unless its grossly out of whack) and a couple of months passes quickly.

Roffensian is spot on. If you have a SO you don't need to be afraid of water. As for running, the small impacts when you set your feet to the ground is no problem at all. The only thing would be if you fall and scratch it. Congratulations on the SO, it's a great watch!
