When a watch has a quartz movement, does that mean it uses a battery? If it does, then how long does a battery usually last (in other words, how often does it need to be changed)?

Thanks,

Hi there, yes quartz indicates battery and if I'm not mistaken, typically lasts for about a year.

It can last up to 8 years, like in Colt SQ.

8 years is for the Colt. Airwolf is rated by Breitling at 2 - 3 years, Aerospace is 3 - 4 years.

Without getting TOO far into the long scientific answer, it's thermo compensated which means that it adjusts for the fact that the quartz vibrates at different frequencies at different temperatures - hence making it more accurate.

All quartz Breitlings have been SuperQuartz since early this decade.
