It's been 6 years since I had a full service on my Navitimer World (I didn't go through Breitling). One of the chronograph hands fell off and was floating around behind the glass, and the watch not surprisingly was operating poorly. I wear it everyday and am not particularly gentle with it. Anyway, I got a $1,730 service quote from Breitling (pasted below) and wanted to see what the board thought. Thanks.

FWIW, I recently had my Navi World serviced by an independent watchmaker. He charged $620 for the service and $165 for the parts kit for a normal service. I didn't have the hands replaced, so I can't speak to that.

If they're going to fix all that damage, and there's a lot of damage, then the quote seems pretty reasonable.
Why has this been duplicated?

Galvanic Silver, Silver Subs, 24322- $462.00
Galvanic Silver, Silver Subs, 24322- $462.00

It's a beautiful watch and entrusted to your care.... :-)

i'd agree that, while it's a lot of money, it's probably acceptable, given the condition of the watch...

that being said, i had a couple Bs serviced recently and all their notes relate to examining the watch with a magnifier, so everything sounds much worse than it actually is!
some are functional (and must-do) but some are cosmetic (optional), so, as you know what your watch actually looks like, you could decline cosmetic items (e.g. subdials... if they look OK to you, that's good enough, isn't it?)
at least that's how it works in the UK.

i think you should also consider:
- the sentimental value of your watch
- the fact that the world is discontinued and a second-hand watch (recently serviced) will cost you north of four grand.

FWIW, given you normally get a close-to-new watch after a full service, i'd probably go for it... i've got a world (my first ever B) and i'll never ever part with it!

hope this helps,
pg
