I used to post on this site quite a bit but other interests took my time and I sort of fell out of actively collecting watches. Lately I was thinking about thinning my collection of 81950's and early variants. I took a look at the Breitling web site and saw the new Chronomat, now I am not so sure.

I really like the new model and love the fact that they brought the rouleaux bracelet back. Where is the UTC? :D

If the new watch is a success do you think it will lift the value of the original watches? When I say original I mean the first few hundred of the 81950 and the special models that came after.

TBH I can't imagine the new ones will lift the value of the old ones as I just don't think a bracelet would have that much of an impact on people's psyche to make them start chasing the older models.

(Beautiful 81950 by the way!)

I would think it would bring the value down since you can just get a new one now.

IMHO maybe the asking price for old models will go slightly up if new model is successful because it will generate more interest for Chronomats and thus maybe increase demand for old models that are way cheaper than new ones. But its just a guessing game.

The pushers and bezel was way better on the orginal. The rest has improved.

That's what I was thinking I like the original bezel and pusher design better also the new bracelet seems much more "chunky" which I do not like. I don't wear my Omega SpeedMaster Moonwatch or any of my 4 Navitimers on bracelets b/c the watch is so lite and comfortable without their OEM bracelet IMHO...your milage may vary. Also I would have loved the date at 3 oclock like original but black date wheel...

I would agree with this...similar but not exactly e.g. older Rolex Submariners are collected b/c the new models are still popular (and more expensive!!!).
