Several weeks ago I did the "stupid" thing of the year and tripped over my own two feet in the doorway of my home. First I checked my watch; OK, then I checked my left leg and knee ( took all my weight and impact on concrete) OK. Then as I was lying half in and out at 10PM I suddenly remembered an old TV commercial (USA) of an elderly lady on the floor crying 'help me , I've fallen and I can't get up'. Then I started to laugh at myself and it took a couple of minutes to get up. Since then, my physical activities have been restricted due to a knee looking like a grapefruit. Now this is where the problem of wearing a mechanical automatic winding watch comes in. They have to have plenty of movement swinging the rotor for upwards of 14-16 hours a day ( depending on watch ). This is the beauty of my Breitling Colt II quartz. I can sit all day with my leg propped up with frozen jel packs and still have an accurate time reading without having to swing my arms or wind one of my mechanicals every day. Moral: don't go brain dead and have a quartz watch handy. |

Yes, it's important to know precisely what time it is whilst bedridden. ![]() Seriously, get better soon. |

I hope you get better soon. But, I don't need my knees to keep my wrist and arm in motion... ![]() |
