So I stopped by the NYC Boutique today to check out some of the new Basel releases, the SOH II is absolutely beautiful and the movement winds like butter! However in the display case was this!

Image

A new limited edition of only 100 pieces in the world, the highlights, B04 in-house movement, blue dial, blue ceramic insert, and a blue rubber "ocean classic" strap. Date is at 4:30 with sub-dials at 3, 6, and 9 rather than the previous layout of 6,9, and 12 with date at 3!
Absolutely gorgeous!!

I'd love to see that on the Navi bracelet. It's too bad there is only 100 of them. What was retail?

Justin, I don't remember the exact price but the way it way set up with the rubber tang strap was approximately $9100. Add a bracelet for another $1500???

I was thinking somewhere in the $10K range with the bracelet.

Perhaps it's just how it comes across in pictures, but the bezel looks plasticky and nasty imo. Is the whole thing ceramic, or is it an insert?

I think that it is the picture, (I used my i-phone and was taking a quick shot) it is entirely ceramic and quite nice!

I really WANT to like this one, but.......

I always thought from the outset that the Chronoliner should've had the B01 (or variant) inside with the tricompax layout.....but I think this one really needs to be black rather than blue. And while it looks OK on the standard model (EDIT - and on the vintage versions!), the slightly different sized sub-dials look wrong to me on the tricompax layout.

(Oh and I don't like the 4:30 date either. Did I ever mention that I can't stand 4:30 dates?    )

Nice looking piece, and nice to see the B04 movement incorporated in this version. Wish the case size were smaller on the Chronoliner series.

I agree with you, the Chronoliner should have an in-house movement for the price that Breitling was looking to sell them for. My opinion is that they are testing the waters with this piece, if it sells well then you will see the 46mm Chronoliner receive the in-house movement and a new Chronoliner in 44mm with the non in-house movement. As far as the blue color, it happens to be one of my favorite colors and Breitling does blue very well! I only wish that the watch fund had a positive, rather then the current negative balance! :D :D :D

sorry, but the proportions & subdial spacing are, as always, WAY off for me.
heresy, actually (sorry for being grumpy old Fred, but it is sad to see how design icons are butchered)

Sorry, it doesn't do anything for me.

The proportions are all off and the watch looks strange to me.

I also fail to see $9100 worth of watch here either...

Playing Devils advocate, I would have to disagree. Comparing this watch to the existing, similarly equipped, Chronoliner there is a price difference of approximately $2200. Of the $2200 approximately $1000 can be attributed to the additional cost of the GMT option. Is an in-house movement, the base B01 worth an additional $1000? What value is placed on a unique ceramic bezel and/or the additional three years of warranty due to the in house movement. Now, I know that you are not going to pay $9100, the MRSP, because your philosophy is that you need to have a 40 percent discount before considering a Breitling, but, when you do a comparison of features of this new watch compared to the original Chronoliner and other in-house models in the Breitling line up I think you would find that it is fairly priced.

I will admit that I was tempted to make the purchase so my views may be biased. But in the end I declined. Why, because I have my eyes set on another piece, and my desire not to pay MSRP. That, plus the stink eye my better half gave me made me pass. (It reminded her of a watch that she had bought for me that I recently sold!)

Just curious, at what pricepoint would you put this at? It's an in house chrono with GMT and a ceramic bezel. Is there something else comparable out there right now that you'd compare it to?

If this watch were 43mm, I would be sorely tempted. The 30-minute totalizer could be just a tad larger compared to the other subdials, in the spirit of the original -- but I like it, all the same. I think the blue version is a great look.
